KISS GOODBYE
Several artworks were created live during the Hackney WickED Late. Public watched her work and experienced the explosions in Mick's Garage, Queens Yard.

Kiss Goodbye
Using nitrocellulose, which was invented by Alexander Parkes in Hackney Wick in 1862, Aoife van Linden Tol will explode three vintage Ordinance survey maps, which track a period of intense industrial development of the area. At a time when the original industrial nature of the area has almost disappeared to make way for residential developments and artists protest about the gentrification of the unlikely refuge they have created here since the 90's, the work references and kisses goodbye to these two golden eras.

Invented as the worlds first man made plastic, nitrocellulose had many uses including celluloid film, X- ray films but also happened to be to be highly reactive and was soon used to create the explosives known as guncotton and flash paper. Aoife van Linden Tol will create three unique art works which tie together the history of both her own art practice and Hackney Wick's history.
