With this collection of works, titled Meta, created from 2002 onwards, sheet Copper and Aluminium, receive and endure very powerful explosions using a range of unique techniques. Using a metaphysical approach working, Meta asks what it means to be something other, to be material, to be force.
The essence of these works are influenced by the philosophy and aesthetic of Chinese calligraphy, using minimal 'strokes' to describe the essence of a subject. High explosive detonations burn the surface and dent, tear and shatter the flesh of the metal. The visceral remains form an evidential landscape, which implants a false memory of the action that created it into mind the viewer.
